STARDOLL HISTORY: Callie Con pt.I

It's been a few years now since the first edition of Callie Con back in 2018, but even today I still see some players asking, “What’s Callie Con?”. Since Lisa.Stardoll recently ask for suggestions for this year’s theme in the Stardoll Royalty club, I thought that, with the 2025 Callie Con approaching, it would be cool to have a little Stardoll history moment about this event.

For those who don’t know, Callie Con is Stardoll’s version of San Diego Comic-Con, one of the largest and most influential pop culture and geek events in the world. Originally created as a comic book convention, Comic-Con has grown into a huge event that brings together fans of movies, TV shows, anime, games, books, cosplay and more.

On Stardoll, Callie Con happens every August and follows a different pop culture theme each year. It usually includes themed store releases, competitions and even some Q&A moments with the Stardoll team.

As mentioned at the beginning of the text, the first edition of Callie Con happened in 2018. The event ran from August 7th to August 19th, and the theme was Superheroes.

During the two weeks of the event, activities included a Q&A with members of the Stardoll staff, an Other World release featuring superhero-inspired fashion (which is still available in Starplaza to this day, you can find it through the catalogue, fashion and decor competitions, and more,  including StarBlog posts and behind-the-scenes pictures from the Stardoll office.

The free gifts included a poster (available to everyone), belts (depending on your association level), as well as a mug, bag, event pass and cape (for those who made a Superstar purchase during the event).

For the 2nd edition in 2019, the theme was Adventure at Castle Stardoll. That year, the event took place in September, from the 23rd to the 29th.

The activities included another Q&A with Stardoll staff members, Stardesign and dress-up competitions and a Starblog post featuring an interview with one of the most famous Stardoll couples, Foula and Achileas (who have sadly broken up since then). There was also a Callie’s Picks-themed release, the collection Nº 116, titled World of Magic.

The free gifts for this edition included a poster, mug and bag (unlocked by participating in the event's activities), as well as a witch hat, wand and event pass. Everyone received the purple version of the set, while the gold and turquoise versions were distributed according to association levels: Superstars got the gold set and Royalties received all three.

There was also a Superstar special offer that included an exclusive top (which, to this day, remains one of the most sought-after items on Stardoll, unfortunately, it’s not sellable).

In 2020, Stardoll held the 3rd edition of Callie Con, and the chosen theme was Animes! That year, the event returned to August, running from August 3rd to August 14th.

The activities included the first edition of SNTHA (Stardoll’s Next Top Hair Artist) during the Callie Con, where participants received a Pokémon cap and the winners had the opportunity to unlock the coveted Dreams of Design achievement. The Q&A sessions, which from this year onward were called AMA (Ask Me Anything) panels, rewarded participants with a Death Note notebook. There was also a scavenger hunt with Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask costumes as prizes, fashion contests where winners earned a Naruto headband and a behind-the-scenes look on how the Stardoll team was working during the quarantine.

The theme related release we had during the event was a Sunny Bunny collection featuring anime style facial features (this one collection is also still available in Starplaza).

The free login gifts included a pass and a Pokéball: everyone received a pass with a purple holder and a red Pokéball. Superstars received an extra pass with a golden holder and a golden Pokéball, while Royalties got an additional pass with a blue holder and a blue Pokéball. Each Pokéball came in two versions, one for male dolls and one for female dolls, as they're hand placed.

Everyone could also claim a free mug and bag through the event page. As for the Superstar special offer, the free items included the four remaining Moon Scout outfits: Sailor Mars, Sailor Venus, Sailor Uranus and Sailor Jupiter.

For me, the 2020 Callie Con was one of the best as I was really excited about the Sailor Moon themed items!

That’s all for now, as this post is already quite long, but I’ll be back soon with the remaining years of Callie Con to keep sharing more pieces of Stardoll history, it’s always fun to look back. And thanks to the doll SweetKim that helped me with the pictures of the freebies of each edition!

From the three editions I mentioned here, did you take part in any of them? Do you still have the freebies they gave out during those events or did you skip claiming them?
