New York Fashion Week S/S 24

Hi, I'm Nicky, and this is my very first post!

Since I'm not only a huge nerd when it comes to pixel fashion, but also enjoy real-life fashion to a great deal, I've been following fashion week for years now.

So, what better time to introduce a new post series than on the new blog? So here we go!

Welcome to Stardoll Dresser's very first Real-Life Fashion month! We will be visiting:

  • New York (September 7th to September 13th)
  • London (September 15th to September 19th)
  • Milan (September 19th to September 25th)
  • Paris (September 25th to October 3rd)
Today, we're getting started in New York.
First established in 1943 as "Press Week", New York Fashion Week was the world's first organized fashion week.
Previously, designers did their own fashion showings, but showings did not take place during a set time period. Press Week helped market American designers to European fashion houses and magazines, such as Vogue. The very first press week gave recognition to Claire McCardell, Norman Norell, and others.
In the 1960s, names like Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta emerged, the former will be showing their latest collection in the following days.

While every fashion week's schedule is packed full of interesting designers, old and new names, here are some bigger names that you may recognize, in cursive those that were featured in our game before:
  • Helmut Lang, Christian Siriano, Prabal Gurung, Ralph Lauren, Theory, Proenza Schouler, Tibi, Anna Sui, Khaite, Ulla Johnson, Alice + Olivia, Jason Wu Collection, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Staud, Michael Kors, Altuzarra, Tory Burch, Brandon Maxwell, Gabriela Hearst
Which shows are you the most excited for?

Here are some of my favorite looks from the FW23 New York shows (click on them for better images).

Because I love the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection so much and couldn't decide on just one look, I am showing you five of my favorites.

Not only is New York exciting because of the designer collections, New York street style during fashion week is just as amazing. Often featuring humorous imagery, unexpected colors, or an extra edge, New York street style packs all of the punches. While many New Yorkers enjoy dressing in black for any occasion, during fashion week, we can see both colorful and all-black looks in the fashion crowd.

Here are some of my favorites from the FW23 New York streets.

Share your favorite looks from the runway and the streets down below in the comments, shout about specific pieces or designers you want to see in future Tribute Seasons on Stardoll, and be inspired!

There will be a competition coming soon, stay tuned for that!
