Vinyl

Vinyl

For Monday, the Stardoll team prepared a new Vinyl drop and this time it brings lots of vintage pieces from iconic 90s collections

The two new floors include items inspired by Miu Miu, Lacroix, Dior, Gucci, Complice, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Alaïa, and Westwood accessories.

As mentioned previously, most of the items come from 90s fashion show collections, ranging from 1991 to 1997, but not only, we can also spot some newer pieces from collections released in 2017, like the Marc Jacobs coat and the Westwood bag from the 2023/2024 commercial collection.

I really liked this release, especially the Vivienne Westwood socks and bag, the brand is one of my favorites and I hope to see more items soon in future releases, or even in a Tribute, as we’re getting close to Tribute season.

This time, we only have two starcoin pieces: the Black Lace Tights and the Dior Champagne Trousers.

Below you can see some of the pieces in real life:

Vinyl + Giveaway

Vinyl + Giveaway

This Wednesday we were transported back to the Y2K era with a new Vinyl release.

The two new store floors bring a strong 2000s aesthetic, full of low-rise pants, crop tops, mini skirts, and belt chains. As you might know, I love dressing my doll in this fashion era, so I really enjoyed this collection, especially the bags and, of course, the digital camera they added as an accessory. In this release we have a total of 5 items available for starcoins.

The collection was curated by Ben/Laneki, who also illustrated some of the items and shared an edit to showcase them, as you can see below. I love that he’s bringing back the old Stardoll style ads on his social medias that used to feature members in new releases.

Vinyl

Vinyl

This time, the 90s and early 2000s took over the new Vinyl release, bringing us some of the most iconic outfits from movies and TV shows of those decades.

The collection pays tribute to Cher from Clueless (1995), Jenna from 13 Going on 30 (2004), Regina George from Mean Girls (2004), Fran Fine from The Nanny (1993-1999), and Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003). For the boys, they’ve included Spider-Man’s costume from the 2002 movie and Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, both of which are also available for female dolls.

I’m still trying to figure out what the Marge Simpson outfit that Cardi B wore as a halloween costume in 2023 is doing here, as it feels out of context with the rest of the store. Another thing that bothered me was the high heels they added to the Buffy outfit. I know we already have a lot of boots in the game, but they could have made one more pair just for her.

Below, you can see the real-life versions of the characters, in case you're not familiar with any of them:

Some still had hopes of getting a second part of Young Hollywood inspired by the MET Gala today, but those hopes sank as today's early release was a new Vinyl collection.

This collection reminded me of the Decades aesthetic, especially the Dior set, and I'm in love with it. There are 2 pieces for starcoins (the fedora hat on the male mannequin and the cropped blouse on the last mannequin, both on the first floor). I'm sad because there are no bags or jewelry to complement these outfits in the store.

Vinyl

Vinyl

The last release of this month was a very small Vinyl collection. I think someone from the illustration team is sneaking around this blog or the Royalty club, as finally, they're bringing male outfits more often (even if it's one or two per release). Or maybe someone there has a male doll and is taking the opportunity to give him clothes.

The store gained one more floor with clothes inspired by 70's fashion. I still don't know how I feel about it; the only item that caught my attention was the orange platform, but I don't have the urge to buy them. As everyone's currently focused on tributes, the regular releases are somewhat out of the spotlight. Perhaps I can come back later to this collection and see if something else gets my interest to compose a look.

Weekly Superstar Gift

Weekly Superstar Gift

For this week's ss free gift, Stardoll chose the Hippie Van Bag from last Friday's Vinyl release. I'm happy with this choice as I think it's a cute bag, but I didn't want to buy it because I'm not a big fan of crossbody bags. Having it for free is great to try and create a new look.

Don't forget to claim yours!

Vinyl

Vinyl

Well, I forgot that yesterday was Friday, so I was confused when I logged into Stardoll and saw some new pieces in the 'new items' section. Now that I've moved past the confusion, let's get to the point of this post: the new Vinyl collection.

The collection consists of 10 new outfits, all for female dolls. Lately, Vinyl has earned a place in my favorite stores list. It's one of the few that still adheres to the original store aesthetics, and its releases always contain some interesting pieces.
Once I set my eyes on the Brown Stretch Boots, they became my most-wanted item from the release, along with the Vintage TV Bag. I wish we had the option to buy the belt from the Coat with Padded Shoulders separately, as I liked it but not the coat - paddes shoulders are a pass for me. The Hippie Van Bag is a really cute item as well, but I'm not the biggest fan of crossbody bags; I prefer handbags. However, who knows, maybe on another occasion, I'll buy it?
