Paris Fashion Week S/S 24

Bienvenue à Paris!

Leaving La bella Italia, we arrive at the last stop of fashion month, Paris. Widely known as the city of love, there will hopefully be lots to love about the fresh collections we are about to see.

Paris Fashion Week takes place from September 25th to October 3rd.
While I often think of Paris as the origin of fashion shows with salon showings happening since the 1700s, an organized fashion week has only been taking place since 1973. With famous names like Charles Worth and Paul Poiret emerging in the late 19th century and early 20th century, Haute Couture fashion has a long history in Paris. Haute Couture is defined as made-to-measure clothing, hand-sown by a team of high-skilled artisans in the fields of embroidery, stitching, and beading, and using only highest-quality materials. Ready-to-wear fashion (mass-produced fashion made to a number of sizes) emerged for women's wear in the early 20th century with the upcoming more free silhouettes, names like Coco Chanel and later Yves Saint Laurent came up.
Paris has since had big names in both departments, and the first fashion week reflected that, organizing ready-to-wear, Haute Couture, and men's fashion into one week of events. Nowadays, there is both the Paris Fashion Week and the Haute Couture Week, both organized by the "Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode" (Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion).

Paris is in UTC+1 timezone, in case you want to watch any liveshows (schedule available here and here (I recommend the latter). The big names tend to have liveshows, so you have something to watch everyday. I watched some liveshows from Milan, and I really enjoyed how much more of the collection I got to see, with it being in motion, and being able to view the fashion in context with the background and the order. Try watching a liveshow for yourself and see how you like it!

The sheer number of Paris designers that were featured in our beloved game (highlighted in cursive) is incredibly high, higher than any other city with 14 names (Milan being in second place with 10 names). With that in mind, I decided to list a few more names than for the previous weeks (even though I already had to shorten the list quite drastically):
  • Christian Dior, Saint Laurent, Marni, Dries Van Noten, Acne Studios, Balmain, Lanvin, Chloé, Givenchy, Schiaparelli, Isabel Marant, Loewe, Giambattista Valli, Yohji Yamamoto, Vivienne Westwood, Hermès, Elie Saab, Comme des Garçons, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Valentino, Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton, Mugler, Maison Margiela, Chanel, Miu Miu
Which new collections do you want to see most?

Some of my favorite black & white outfits from the Fall 2023 Ready-To-Wear collections are featured below. You can click on the images for better quality.

(I might share some street style from the fall shows later on, as I have exams on Tuesday and Thursday, wish me luck!)

Share your favorite looks from the runways and the streets down below in the comments, shout about specific pieces or designers you want to see in future Tribute Seasons on Stardoll, and be inspired!

Keep your eyes open for the Milan Runway comp :)
